I am co-owner, with my partner Ben, of TransForming Connections Life Coaching. Ben and I got married 36 years ago. At that time, Ben had a different name and looked like a woman. About 13 years later, he came out as transgendered and began transitioning so his body matched his identity. So now, 23 years later, we are still married, and bringing our experience of going through transition together to our organizational development and life coaching business.
In addition to an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carleton University in Ottawa, I’ve been a certified Life Coach since 2013, completing the training program under the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) of California, qualifying me as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). I am certified by the International Coaching Federation as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC). I‘ve also completed CTI’s Leadership Program, an intensive one year course.
My wide ranging interests are reflected in my diverse work experience, including working with various levels of government, private sector and non-profit organizations. I’ve both managed funding programs and worked in technology at Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Health Canada, the Canadian International Development Agency and the Government of the Northwest Territories. Among other things. I’ve also sold motorcycles, been a defensive driving instructor, child care worker in group homes for at-risk youth, was a carpenter/renovator, worked in factories and farms doing manual labour, drove trucks and was a varsity badminton coach.
My passions are for motorcycles, doing anything on water (sailing, skiing, kayaking, swimming) and racquet sports. I’ve lived in 3 Canadian provinces and the Northwest Territories, as well as the Netherlands. I’ve travelled to over 40 countries to date, and one of my life goals is to ride a motorcycle on every continent — I have Australia and Antarctica left.
